Lexington, South Carolina, is buzzing with pride after one of its own, 13-year-old Vivienne Fonte, recently brought home the national title of 2024 American United Miss Preteen. Representing as Miss Clemson Preteen, Vivienne didn’t just win the crown; she also clinched multiple awards, proving that she is a force to be reckoned with!
At the national pageant, Vivienne’s accomplishments shone brightly with awards that included the Community Service Award, Junior Division Spokesmodel Award, Preteen Color Photogenic, and Preteen Print Model. And it didn’t stop there; she even came in 1st Runner-Up in Casual Wear! Her success in these competitions is a testament to her hard work and dedication.
Vivienne’s journey has not always been easy. Diagnosed with Autism shortly after her second birthday, she has navigated through her own challenges, including years of social skills therapies. But her resilience has allowed her to rise above adversity. During her interview with the judges, she bravely shared her personal experiences, including the bullying she faced.
Her message, “progress over perfection” emphasizes the value of embracing our quirks as what makes us unique. Using social media as a platform, Vivienne shares her story in hopes of motivating others who may be facing similar struggles. She encourages everyone to celebrate their individuality and work towards progress instead of waiting for perfection.
Vivienne’s commitment to her community is another admirable part of her character. This year alone, she has dedicated over 165 hours of volunteer work and received the Gold Presidential Service Award from the White House. Her contributions have caught the attention of local government, and she will soon be officially recognized by the Lexington County Council for her extraordinary efforts!
Among her many projects, she has actively participated in numerous initiatives, such as donating non-perishables to local Blessing Boxes, stocking Little Free Libraries, and making pampering kits for LMC Oncology patients in honor of her beloved Meme. Plus, she has lent a hand in relief efforts for victims of hurricanes in Western North Carolina—Vivienne truly embodies the spirit of service.
Vivienne created her personal platform, “Have Faith,” after the tragic loss of her cousin, Kimberly Faith Taylor. Her mission focuses on providing hope and support to children in foster care. Vivienne conducts donation drives, creating “Birthday in a Bag” kits, and collects necessary items for those in need.
Working closely with organizations such as Midlands Orphan Relief and Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter, she is making strides to uplift the lives of many children. This past May, Vivienne showed incredible bravery by delivering her victim impact statement during the trial for Kimberly’s case—an act that speaks volumes about her commitment to making a difference.
Alongside her individual efforts, Vivienne also hosts “Quarterly Queen Service Days” to rally other pageant titleholders in service. They’ve organized events for senior citizens and collected school supplies for local schools. Her enthusiasm is infectious, as she captures the attention of many who wish to join her on these inspiring community initiatives.
Despite her busy schedule packed with pageantry and community service, Vivienne makes sure to carve out time for her other interests. You can find her cheering on the Gray Collegiate teams, baking delicious treats, singing her heart out, fishing with family, or volunteering with the Columbia Junior League.
Vivienne Fonte truly embodies what it means to be a young leader, serving as an inspiration for many not just in Lexington but beyond. With her determination, talent, and heart for service, we cannot wait to see what this remarkable young woman accomplishes next!
