West Columbia Gears Up for Heartfelt Veterans Day Celebrations

West Columbia, SC – Honoring Our Heroes This Veterans Day!

As we gear up for \u003cb\u003eVeterans Day\u003c/b\u003e celebrations, the Lexington County area is buzzing with excitement to honor our local veterans! Community schools in the district are going all out to recognize those who have served our country, and you won’t want to miss it! From heartfelt assemblies to wonderful concerts, it’s all happening right here in your backyard!

A Week Full of Appreciation

The festivities kick off on \u003cb\u003eWednesday, November 6\u003c/b\u003e, with a special assembly at Riverbank Elementary School. The students from grades 4K-2 are set to perform at 8 a.m., followed by 3rd-5th graders at 9 a.m. Parents and veterans alike will appreciate the enthusiasm and talent of the young performers at 160 Cougar Drive, West Columbia.

Fast forward to \u003cb\u003eFriday, November 8\u003c/b\u003e, and it’s a busy day! Busbee Creative Arts Academy will host its Veterans Day program at 9:15 a.m., showcasing performances from their talented chorus, band, orchestra, theatre, and dance groups at 501 Bulldog Blvd., Cayce. It’s a great way for the students to show their respect and gratitude!

Meanwhile, over at Fulmer Middle School (1614 Walterboro Street, West Columbia), celebrations begin at 9:30 a.m. with student performances, and a special guest appearance by JROTC from Airport High School! Donuts and coffee will be served; what’s not to love about that?

For the veterans who enjoy a hearty breakfast, make sure to stop by Northside Middle School from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. on the same day. Then, head over to Wood Elementary School later that morning for a parade featuring their K-2 students! The parade starts at 8:30 a.m. followed by a special Veterans Day program with appearances from the Airport High School JROTC.

The Big Day: November 11!

\u003cb\u003eMonday, November 11\u003c/b\u003e is the grand day of celebrations! Join us at the Lexington Two Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m. for a free concert that is sure to uplift spirits! The event will feature the talented 282D Army Band from Fort Jackson, with support from local students as they open the show. Mark the address: 3205 Platt Springs Road, Springdale!

If you’re looking for something earlier in the day, make a stop at Congaree Elementary School at 9:30 a.m. for another delightful program with student performances. The PTO will provide breakfast for our heroes, so you may want to come hungry! Find them at 1221 Ramblin Road, West Columbia.

Later that afternoon, Brookland-Cayce High School will hold its Veterans Day program at 1 p.m., featuring performances by the school’s Honor Choir. Plus, Retired 1st Sgt. Alexander Baker is set to be a featured speaker, sharing inspiring stories and wisdom. You can catch this at 1300 State Street, Cayce.

Continuing the Celebration

The celebrations don’t stop there! On \u003cb\u003eTuesday, November 12\u003c/b\u003e, Airport High School will honor our soldiers with a program featuring tributes and performances by the chorus and dance team. Join the gathering at 2 p.m. at 1315 Boston Road.

Every event in the Lexington Two district is designed to honor the sacrifices of our brave veterans and bring the community together. So gather your family and friends and make plans to join the festivities!
