Exciting Holiday Updates for West Columbia Residents: City Hall Hours, Trash Collection Changes, and Fireworks Regulations

Exciting Holiday Updates for West Columbia Residents!

Hey there, West Columbia! As the holiday season is upon us, there are some important updates regarding City Hall hours, sanitation schedules, and, of course, the fireworks regulations that you need to know to keep this festive season merry and bright!

City Hall is Taking a Break

First things first—if you’re planning to swing by City Hall, you might want to check the calendar! City Hall will be closed for Christmas on Wednesday and Thursday, December 25–26, 2024. So, if you need to handle any city business, you’ll want to do it by Tuesday, December 24, or wait until Friday, December 27, when regular hours will resume. Mark your calendars because City Hall will also be closed for New Year’s Day on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

What About Trash Collection?

Now, let’s talk about trash—yes, the not-so-fun part of holidays! The sanitation schedule gets a little shake-up during the holiday weeks. Christmas Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, December 27. Make a note: there will be no yard trash collection on that Friday, so hold off on those holiday decorations until the following week. And for everyone looking to kick off the New Year with a clean start, keep in mind that there will also be no yard trash collection on January 1. Regular collection will resume after the holidays, so you won’t be left with a mess!

Fireworks Fun!

Now, for those of you who love celebrating with a bang, listen up! The City of West Columbia has some rules about when you can fire off those fireworks. You can safely light up the night from 9:00 a.m. on December 31 to 1:30 a.m. on January 1. Keep it festive and safe, as this is one of the best ways to welcome in the new year!

Stay Informed!

For all the latest details and updates affecting our community, don’t forget to check out the City’s website at West Columbia Sanitation & Recycling. If you prefer mobile access, you can also download the WeCo Info app! It’s packed with useful information. And if you have any service requests or need to report something in a jiffy, simply hop onto the Civic Web Portal.

Let’s Celebrate Safely!

The City of West Columbia sends warm wishes to all residents for a safe and happy holiday season. Let’s all do our part to ensure everyone can enjoy this magical time of year without any hitches! Whether you’re hanging with friends and family, enjoying the sparkle of fireworks, or ringing in the new year with a tidy home, remember to spread cheer and be kind to one another.

So, there you have it, folks! Keep these updates in mind, and let’s make this holiday season the best one yet—filled with love, joy, and a sprinkle of West Columbia magic!
