The sun peeked through the cloudy skies of West Columbia last Thursday as a long-anticipated vision transformed into reality. The final piece of the Brookland and 4 West community officially opened its doors, marking an exciting chapter for the city’s River District.
After years of planning and hard work, the moment came when LS3P, a well-known architectural firm, took up residence in their stunning new office that stretches over 11,000 square feet. It’s tailor-made to inspire creativity, complete with a private outdoor terrace offering breathtaking views of the skyline and river. It’s not just an office; it’s a modern-day workspace destined to be home for over 35 employees, encouraging collaboration and innovation.
“I’m thrilled that LS3P has made its home in the beautiful 4 West section of the Brookland Development,” shared West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles. “This wonderful addition to our business community completes a multi-year project between Estates and Companies and the City of West Columbia. This project has greatly improved our region, and I am thankful for all who have played a part in it.”
The Brookland and 4 West community is not just about offices. It boasts 256 upscale apartment homes, paired with a wide range of commercial tenants that create a vibrant atmosphere for both residents and visitors alike. Restaurants and shops such as Black Rooster, Select Physical Therapy, The WRKT, and Another Broken Egg Cafe fill the area with options for relaxation or a quick bit to eat. And now, with LS3P joining the ranks, it’s becoming one of the Midlands’ premier riverfront destinations.
Teresa Hodge from Estates and Companies also chimed in, expressing enthusiasm about the transformations taking place within the area. “With the addition of Brookland/4 West and the help of so many organizations, it has completely transformed the area while producing much growth and synergy in West Columbia,” she remarked. “We are thrilled with the final product, and the community atmosphere it has created, highlighted by pieces such as the Brookland Mural and the West Steps.”
The opening of this development is a shining example of successful public-private partnerships aiming to foster growth and revitalization. This effort has significantly contributed to the overall quality of life in West Columbia.
Mary Beth Branham from LS3P shared her excitement about the new location. “Our Columbia office is so excited to be in 4 West,” she said. “We have a dynamic indoor work environment and direct access to an outdoor courtyard and a social stair. We’re also within walking distance to the riverfront and numerous food options and activities in the West Columbia/Cayce area.”
She added, “Overlooking the iconic Gervais St. bridge and just minutes from downtown, our office offers spectacular views of the State House dome and the Columbia cityscape. Celebrating our 20th anniversary in Columbia, we believe this central location to Richland and Lexington counties allows us a premier spot from which to serve all our clients across the Midlands.”
The recent opening of LS3P marks a significant milestone for West Columbia’s continued development. As the community grows, so do the opportunities for collaboration, local business growth, and an enriched lifestyle for all. Here’s to new beginnings, exciting ventures, and a thriving West Columbia!
