The one-day event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 20 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Shared Aim Towards a Healthier Community

These alliances reinforce a shared commitment towards facilitating a healthier community by raising mental health awareness and providing viable stress management strategies.

Location and Features

The Mental Health Day will be hosted at the Charles R. Drew Wellness Center premises located at 2101 Walker Solomon Way, Columbia, S.C. Nurturing Environment for Mental Health

With this event, the organizers aim to create an environment conducive to discussing and understanding mental health in an open and non-judgmental way. The focus is on equipping individuals with the tools and resources they need to deal with stress effectively and enhance their overall wellness. It’s a significant step towards reducing the stigma associated with mental health, whilst promoting the concept of overall wellness that includes both physical and mental aspects.

Community Engagement and Participation

Such initiatives also offer an opportunity for community engagement, fostering a sense of collective responsibility for mental health. Encouraging the participation of locals in events like the Mental Health Day not only creates increased awareness about mental health but also strengthens community ties and enhances the overall sense of wellbeing among residents.

Looking Ahead

With the Mental Health Day, the Charles R. Drew Wellness Center has set a precedent for future community-centric initiatives. It is expected that this would be the first of many such events aimed at promoting mental wellbeing and overall health in Columbia, S.C.
