Exciting Developments in Cayce: A New Visitor Center on the Horizon!

Hey there, Cayce residents! Big news is making waves in our beloved City of Cayce and it’s one that any history buff or nature lover will surely appreciate. On Tuesday, a whopping $2.1 million was generously gifted to our city courtesy of the Boyd Foundation. This incredible donation is set to wrap up the final touches on the much-anticipated Visitor’s Center at the remarkable 12,000 Year History Park.

A Look Back: What’s the 12,000 Year History Park?

For those of you who might not be familiar with this gem, the 12,000 Year History Park is a treasure trove of archaeological wonders. It proudly showcases evidence of human habitation dating back an astonishing 12,000 years! This park isn’t just about our local history; it plays a significant role in the National Park Service’s American battlefield plan. So, it’s a big deal, folks!

Mayor Elise Partin Speaks About the Impact

With excitement in her voice, Mayor Elise Partin expressed her gratitude for the generous gift, saying, “We are thankful for the gift from The Boyd Foundation to be able to build the visitor center for the 12,000 Year History Park. This park already shows archaeological proof of habitation from 12,000 years ago and is a part of the National Park Service American battlefield plan.” She continued, emphasizing the importance of protecting this historical land: “To be able to see this vision come to fruition to protect this land and be able to tell the story of everyone who walked it is important to our city to our county to our state and to our nation.”

Revving Up Tourism and Education

The benefits of this new Visitor Center go beyond just showcasing history. According to Mr. George Bailey, President of the Board for the Boyd Foundation, the center will not only provide outdoor recreational opportunities but also become a significant tourist attraction and a fantastic educational resource for children in the Midlands area. “This will provide outdoor recreational opportunities,” he stated enthusiastically, “and in this case, it will also be a great tourism attraction and an educational opportunity for children throughout the Midlands area.”

What’s Next for the Visitor Center?

With funding secure, the next phase is gearing up as plans unfold to finalize a competitive bid to kick off construction on the new Visitor Center. This is a thrilling next step for Cayce as we continue to grow our parks and educational offerings.

The Community Awaits

Cayce residents and history lovers alike are eagerly waiting to see this marvelous project take shape. Imagine a place where families can come learn about our rich heritage, experience the beauty of our parks, and so much more! As the plans progress, keep an eye out for updates on when you can expect to visit this stunning new addition to our community.

So, whether you’re passionate about local history or simply looking for a fun day out with the family, the future is looking bright for the 12,000 Year History Park and its soon-to-be Visitor Center. It’s all about celebrating our past while paving the way for a bright future here in Cayce!
