Burlington, VT – The 2024 Vermont high school fall sports season kicked off with an action-packed week, featuring exciting games in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running. Teams are eager to show their skills as they compete for top honors in the state.

Liam Hand made an impressive 9 saves in the goal. Champlain Valley’s Ethan Revoir and Ajak Dau each contributed a goal, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Mount Mansfield also found success, defeating South Burlington 3-1. Avery Gilbert led the charge with two goals and one assist, while Owen Lyster pitched in with a goal and two assists of his own. Connor Watson scored for South Burlington, but their efforts fell short against a strong Mount Mansfield team.

Other notable matches included Winooski edging out Oxbow with a 3-1 scoreline, thanks to an impressive showing by Ankit Acharya who scored two goals. Colchester managed a narrow 1-0 victory over St. Johnsbury, while Vergennes defeated Missisquoi in a commanding 10-1 win, showcasing their offensive prowess.

Looking ahead, teams continue to gear up for upcoming matches on the schedule. Fans are encouraged to catch their favorite teams in action, with key games happening at various venues across the state. Coaches and representatives from competing teams are asked to report scores as soon as possible following games, ensuring accurate updates for supporters.
