COLUMBIA, SC — Come Sunday, June 28, Columbia will be buzzing with during an exciting event. Select Verizon stores throughout the region are planning to distribute free backpacks to the local community. The initiative is powered by Round Room, LLC, a Verizon authorized retailer.
In its 12th consecutive year, the “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway”, will witness the distribution of $3 million worth of free backpacks across the nation. With back-to-school season fast approaching, the cost of new school supplies can add up quickly for many families. Backpacks, in particular, often come with a higher price tag. Round Room’s initiative seeks to ease some of that financial strain for families preparing for the upcoming school year.
The giveaway is slated to begin at 1 p.m. local time on the 28th of June, at the following Columbia area locations:
People are encouraged to arrive early, as hundreds of families are expected to line up for the event, which is also planned to feature family-friendly activities.
Across the country, the event aims to aid as many as 120,000 students with free backpacks. This impact of this giveaway isn’t confined strictly to Columbia, but the Palmetto State will certainly benefit greatly from the program. This large-scale measure to equip students with an essential school supply underlines the company’s commitment towards promoting education and easing the financial burden on families in back-to-school season.
The goal of this initiative by Verizon is not only to distribute free backpacks but also to engage the community in a family-friendly environment, thereby fostering unity and a sense of community spirit. Verizon continues to encourage the pursuit of education, and this backpack giveaway is one of the many ways they are making a positive impact.
