LEXINGTON COUNTY – Residents and visitors to Lexington County will have plenty to do in the week ahead with a host of events ranging from a tribute to Tom Petty to a local Spring Festival and the final year of the Drift Jam festival.
Starting the weekend off on Friday is Members’ Night Out at the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden, a member-appreciation event where members can roam the zoo and take advantage of special members-only deals and activities. Also, on Friday is the highly anticipated concert, The Best of Everything, a tribute to rock legend Tom Petty. The show, performed by a local group of musicians at the Icehouse Amphitheater, promises personal touches and all of Petty’s hit songs.
Moving on to Saturday, the Chayz Lounge presents the musical stylings of bassists Jacob Webb & Phylicia Rae in their unique concert event, “The Double Bass Experience.” If history fascinates you, head to the 12,000 Year History Park for their Colonial Forts walking tour promising intriguing tales from the past. Furthermore, the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater will be hosting the first Rhythm On The River concert of May with variety band Cash Money Experience. The FARM 1780 will host their annual Spring Festival with flower crown and bouquet-making stations, a children’s play area, a mobile petting zoo, and live music. On Sunday, the world’s largest floating music festival, Drift Jam, will take place off Spence Island on Lake Murray. The festival will feature live music lessons, food, and plenty of fun for guests both on land and water. The organizers have announced that this year will be the last ever Drift Jam, making this event not to miss.
