Join the Annual Team Hope Walk in Irmo to Support Huntington’s Disease Awareness and Research

Join the Fight Against Huntington’s Disease in Irmo!

Irmo, SC – Mark your calendars, everyone! The South Carolina Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) is gearing up for the annual Team Hope Walk right here in our beautiful town. This exciting event will take place on Sunday, October 6th, at the Community Park of Irmo, located at 7507 Eastview Drive. The event is open to everyone, and it promises to be a fantastic day filled with hope and community spirit!

Event Timings and Registration

Registration kicks off at 1:00 PM, so make sure you arrive early to get your team signed up and ready to walk. The official event will start at 2:00 PM, and once again, we’ll all be coming together to support a great cause. The funds raised through this walk will directly aid HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of those affected by Huntington’s disease (HD) and their families.

A Little About Huntington’s Disease

You might be wondering, what exactly is Huntington’s disease? It’s a genetic disorder that affects the brain over time, leading to physical and mental decline. Families dealing with HD face numerous challenges, but thanks to organizations like HDSA, they receive support, education, and resources that can uplift their spirits during tough times.

Why Walk?

Now, why should you join in this walk? Oh, where do we begin! The Team Hope Walk is not just an ordinary fundraising event; it’s *the largest grassroots fundraising initiative* organized by HDSA. Since its inception in 2007, it has raised a whopping $28 million for Huntington’s research and support programs. It’s a chance for families, friends, co-workers, and neighbors from all over the region—including communities from Cayce, West Columbia, Springdale, South Congaree, and beyond—to walk together with a common purpose.

Imagine thousands of people walking, laughing, and sharing stories while raising awareness! It truly is an inspiring event that combines the power of community with the urgency of a serious cause.

How You Can Get Involved

Getting involved is super easy! Whether you’re walking solo or rounding up a team of friends, family members, or co-workers, you’re welcome to participate. Would you like to show your support with a donation? Every little bit helps! To register online or to find more information about donations, you can reach out to Kim Austin-Osborne at curehdinsc@gmail.com.

Sponsors on Board

We’re thrilled to announce that HDSA’s Team Hope Walk is nationally sponsored by Neurocrine Biosciences and Teva Pharmaceuticals. Their support makes events like this possible and helps ensure that people affected by Huntington’s disease get the resources they need.

Let’s Rally Together!

So what are you waiting for? Grab your walking shoes, rally your friends, and let’s show our support for those affected by Huntington’s disease. Together, we can raise awareness and funds while embracing our local community spirit in Irmo!

Let’s make a difference, one step at a time! See you at the walk!
