Meet the Finalists!

Each finalist has made significant contributions to football in South Carolina, either by being from the state, attending school here, or coaching in one of the numerous collegiate programs. Among the impressive list of nominees are some names that are already familiar to fans.

Robert Brooks from Greenwood is one of the standout finalists. Known for his time at South Carolina and a successful career in the NFL, Brooks is already well-accomplished. He holds a spot in the top-10 all-time categories for career receptions among Gamecocks and was a part of a Super Bowl-winning team. He is also already a member of the state’s athletic hall of fame and hopes to become the third player from Greenwood inducted into the Hall of Fame in as many years!

Another thrilling nominee is Jerry Butler from Ware Shoals. He made a name for himself at Clemson before embarking on his NFL journey. Butler is best known for his iconic role in “The Catch”, a memorable play during a pivotal game against South Carolina in 1977. He also shines with honors such as being named the AFC Rookie of the Year in 1979 and has a Pro Bowl selection to his name.
