Rotary Club of Newberry aids in Renovating Free Medical Clinic

NEWBERRY – The Rotary Club of Newberry, in a heartening display of community collaboration, has significantly contributed to the renovation of the Free Medical Clinic location on Kinard Street. On Wednesday, March 13, the Club held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to showcase the newly refurbished facilities, generously helping cover the total renovation cost of $10,000.

The Transformation

The grand unveiling revealed extensive improvements to both the interior and exterior of the Clinic, contributing greatly to the ambiance and overall functionality of the center. “We accomplished a lot,” stated Donna Lominack, President of the Rotary Club of Newberry, with palpable pride in her voice. She further elaborated on the renovations, which included the installation of a new camera and alarm system, repainting, updates to lighting fixtures, floor repairs, and improvements to the surrounding shrubbery.

Community Collaboration

The Rotary Club of Newberry went above and beyond monetary donations. Half of the renovation costs were covered by a grant, while the Club fulfilled the remaining costs. The strong sense of community was further displayed through the involvement of numerous local businesses. Donna Lominack extended her gratitude to them saying, “A big thanks to the medical clinic board and their staff. Also, we had some outside businesses that helped with this project. We owe our gratitude to Dave Carson with Fulmer Heating, Cooling and Plumbing, Rich Security, John Paul Whitaker with Whitaker Floor Coverings, Bobby Sanders with Sanders Landscaping, Jesse Baker with W.E. Baker and Son Incorporated, Mel and Kimberly Kitchens with SERVPRO of Newberry and Laurens.”

Acknowledging Hard Work

The Club recognized the dedicated efforts of Jesse Baker, a board member of the medical clinic, for her exceptional contribution to the renovation project. In acknowledgment of her hard work and dedication, the Rotary Club presented her with a plaque of appreciation during the ceremony. Her relentless efforts are a testament to the participatory spirit and determination that characterized the entire project.

A Step Forward

These refurbishments initiated by the Rotary Club of Newberry significantly enhance the operational grandeur of the Free Medical Clinic. It is undoubtedly a significant stride towards improving the standards of free medical services in the region. Serving as a constant reminder of the power of community cooperation and the remarkable impact it can have on society, such initiatives truly represent the essence of Rotary International’s service-oriented motto: “Service above Self.”

Looking Forward

Moving forward, the Club and the clinic seek to channelize this revitalized energy and enthusiasm towards better delivery of medical services. This timely renovation is poised to usher in a new era of quality, care, and comfort for patients frequenting the Clinic, while also sparking further initiatives directed towards similar community services in the future.
