West Columbia, are you ready for some wet weather? Get your umbrellas out and put on those rain boots because this week is looking a bit gloomy! Meteorologists are predicting a mix of cloudy skies and on-and-off rain showers starting this morning. And guess what? You might want to set your coffee to brew because we could be waking up with patches of fog as well!
The temperature is expected to reach a cozy 81°F later today, so it won’t be too chilly. But, hold onto your hats because there’s a 60% chance of rain, and forecasters are expecting around 2 to 3 inches of rain by the time the weekend rolls in. That sounds like perfect weather for curling up with a good book and a comfy blanket, don’t you think?
It’s essential to keep an eye on the roads, especially since there is a chance of localized flooding. If you’re planning on heading out, make sure you drive safely and keep the kids close. School pickups and weekend plans might need a little backup, so plan accordingly!
But don’t let the rain bring you down because there’s some cheerful news buzzing around town! Carraway Park at the Riverwalk has reopened after some much-needed repairs. And just in time for the holiday season! As the days get shorter and the festive lights start twinkling, West Columbia is ready to welcome families back to this beloved park.
Speaking of the holidays, we all know that magic is in the air! Santa’s Mailbox has returned to the park at 212 Hudson St. Now, kids can bring their own letters or grab a postcard from the Santa Post Office. Don’t wait too long, though; the mailbox is open for business until December 24th! Imagine the kids’ faces when they see their letters flying off to the North Pole!
Parents, make sure to note this important date: letters dropped off by December 16th are guaranteed a response from Santa before Christmas! But if you miss this deadline, don’t worry; Santa still loves to hear from you! Just make sure to include a return address, and you might just find a letter from the jolly old man himself in your mailbox.
And there’s more holiday spirit to share! Santa is also going to pick two lucky letters submitted by November 29th to be read by Mrs. Claus at the City of West Columbia’s 20th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. This magical event will take place at City Hall (200 N. 12th St.) on December 6th. It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season, surrounded by friends, family, and the community spirit!
So whether it’s the rain, or the cheerful holiday events that have you buzzing, there’s plenty going on in West Columbia. Stay warm, stay safe, and get ready to spread that holiday cheer! We can’t wait to see you at Carraway Park and the Christmas Tree Lighting event!
Now, go ahead and grab that pumpkin spice latte, put on your coziest sweatshirt, and let’s make the most of this rainy weather!
