Pittsburgh, PA – The excitement of high school football playoffs has officially kicked off in Pennsylvania! Last night, teams across the state battled for a chance to move forward in the playoffs, with plenty of thrilling matchups and impressive performances.
In one of the standout games, Aliquippa overwhelmed Trinity with a convincing score of 34-14, while Avonworth also made a statement by defeating Greensburg Salem 44-27. The defense led by Bethel Park controlled the game against Greater Latrobe, wrapping things up at 42-7.
Over in District 1, Central Bucks South cruised to an easy victory against Spring-Ford, managing to stay dominant with a score of 49-7. In the same district, Downingtown West edged out Coatesville in a tightly contested game that ended at 28-21.
On the other side of the state, Old Forge displayed a strong offensive game, taking down Scranton Holy Cross with a score of 59-7. Meanwhile, Penn-Trafford also secured a spot in the next round after defeating South Fayette 49-28.
Several teams faced zero opposition as well, with North Pocono and Tamaqua, who each scored impressive shutout victories over Hamburg and Pequea Valley respectively. The final scores were 41-0 and 35-0.
