Penn Yan Academy Faces Tough Loss in High School Basketball Matchup Against Waterloo

High School Basketball Action: Waterloo Bests Penn Yan Academy

On a chilly Wednesday night in Penn Yan, the atmosphere was electric as local rivals Waterloo and Penn Yan Academy faced off in a boys basketball showdown. Despite frigid temperatures and blustery winds, fans filled the gym eager to support their teams. The game brought drama and excitement, concluding with Waterloo emerging victorious with a score of 60-47.

Waterloo’s star performance came from a trio of players, each contributing 12 points to the win: Brandon Lee, Hayden Willett, and Cameron Jacobs. Dylan Caraballo and Carter Peterson also played vital roles in the team’s offense, each adding 10 points to the scoreboard. This impressive showing keeps Waterloo undefeated with a record of 3-0, with their next game scheduled against Greece Odyssey on December 9.

Penn Yan Academy fought hard but could not overcome the Waterloo defense. Senior Anthony Condella was a standout for the team, dropping an impressive 22 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win for the home team. Matthew Tones added 11 points in support, but the team now finds themselves at 0-1 for the season.

In other local games, Lyons dominated Marion in a non-league matchup, ending with a startling score of 105-17. Standout performer Jamire Johnson led his team with 22 points. For Marion, Aidan Rittenhouse managed to score 6 points in the tough loss.

The weather may have been cold with expected snow showers, but the competition on the court was anything but frosty. Both teams now look ahead with determination as they prepare for their next matchups on December 6.

For local basketball updates and scores, teams are encouraged to send their results as soon as possible.
