Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle While Crossing Road in Lexington County

Early Morning Tragedy Strikes Lexington County

Lexington County, S.C. – A 49-year-old man tragically lost his life in an early morning incident in Lexington County when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Frontage Road near Commerce Drive, alongside the 113 westbound exit ramp. The fateful accident occurred just before 4:30 a.m on Wednesday.

Details About the Victim

Curt Alan Davis, a native of Cayce was identified as the victim of the unfortunate accident. According to the Lexington County Coroner, Margaret Fisher, Davis was pronounced dead on the scene due to the extent of injuries sustained from the incident.

Responsiveness from the Driver

Equally important is that the vehicle’s driver remained at the scene after the incident. Currently, it is unclear as to whether any charges will be levied against the driver. However, investigations into the circumstances that led to this tragic incidence are ongoing.

Ongoing Investigations

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, in conjunction with the City of Cayce Police Department, has promptly initiated investigations into this fatal accident. As a result, both departments haven’t released any further details surrounding the incident at this time, as investigations are still ongoing.

Lexington County’s Hazardous Roads

Lamentably, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred along Frontage Road and other roads in Lexington County. The area has seen an unsettling number of cases involving vehicles and pedestrians over the past years. Most noteworthy, though, is a recent approval of a $160,000 Department of Transportation (D.O.T) grant aimed to improve dangerous intersections in Cayce, a move representing an effort to curb such incidences.

Call for Vigilance

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance, both as a pedestrian and a driver, most especially during the early and late hours of the day. Safety on the roads is a collective effort and it is paramount for everyone using the roads to do so with utmost consideration of others.

Here at the HERE News Network, our sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of Curt Alan Davis during this difficult time. News concerning this incident will continue to be reported as further updates come in.
