Newberry Hospital Wins 2024 Outstanding Patient Experience Award

Newberry Hospital Honored with the 2024 Outstanding Patient Experience Award by Healthgrades

In an exceptional proclamation, Newberry Hospital disclosed that it has been celebrated as a 2024 Outstanding Patient Experience Award beneficiary by Healthgrades. Healthgrades is a prestigious resource utilized by consumers in their quest to find the best healthcare providers. This accolade embodies the vow of Newberry Hospital to deliver outstanding healthcare experiences to patients and their loved ones.

Hospital’s Outstanding Service

“Our staff strive to provide genuine, authentic care to all of our patients every day,” asserts John Snow, Chief Executive Officer of Newberry Hospital. “We are extremely honoured that our patients have once again acknowledged the commitment our staff has to ensuring the best possible patient experience.”

Evaluation Process

To identify the leading hospitals for patient experience, Healthgrades implements a scoring methodology which utilizes ten patient experience measures. This is achieved through the use of Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey data submitted by the hospital’s own patients. The key focus of the survey questions is on patients’ perceptions of their hospital care, varying from cleanliness and noise levels, to explanations regarding medication and the responsiveness of the staff. Additional measures encompass whether or not a patient would recommend the hospital to friends or family, and their overall evaluation of the hospital.

About the Award and Analysis

Within this yearly analysis, Healthgrades evaluated more than 2,500 hospitals that had submitted a minimum of 100 patient experience surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). These encompassed admissions from January 2022 to December 2022. Among these hospitals, Newberry Hospital surpassed its peers, based on feedback from its own patients, to attain this award.

Comments from Healthgrades

“We commend Newberry Hospital for going above and beyond to provide a best-in-class care experience for patients during their hospital stay,” stated Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer and head of data sciences at Healthgrades. “Newberry Hospital’s dedication to superior patient care is particularly impressive given recent declines in patient satisfaction scores across the country. We look forward to their continued leadership and commitment to ensuring the health and wellness of all patients.”
