Newberry – A leading educational institution, Newberry College, has officially announced its decision to shift its health care management major entirely online. The adjustment is set to take effect from the next online term commencing on April 29.
Moving the program online is a strategic step taken by the college as part of an effort to meet the soaring demand from both students and the health care sector.
This transition will be of great advantage to the students. Many of these individuals are full-time professionals that can now take the opportunity of this flexible learning method. Through this transformation, students can now complete their coursework conveniently, from any location at any time, and earn their degrees in as few as 18 months.
Newberry College foresees an upsurge in the number of students who will be attracted to this more accessible format. Thus, positioning the institution as a significant contributor to meeting the overwhelming demands of the health care field.
Initially established in the fall of 2016, the health care management program equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle policies and administrative processes outside of direct patient care. Graduates of the program have a wide array of career opportunities such as in health insurance, human resources, information systems, public relations, patient care services, and more.
For the revised online program, some core curriculum prerequisites will be lessened compared to the in-person program. The students will also be given a chance to earn 12 credit hours through internships. Each course will run for seven-and-a-half weeks, paving the way for students to earn a full degree in as little as 18 months.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, average earnings for medical and health services managers amount to $104,830 yearly. Impressive growth has also been predicted, with the health care sector expected to grow by 28% by 2032 and an average of 54,700 job openings being forecasted annually.
Newberry’s health care management program becomes the sixth fully online bachelor-level program offered by the institution. It joins the online business administration, criminal justice, psychology, RN-to-BSN, and South Carolina’s only baccalaureate program in respiratory therapy.
Newberry College ensures a smooth application process with its rolling admission policy and early applications are highly encouraged to secure a spot in the upcoming term. The college also offers a transfer policy for potential students who already have college credits.
