Exciting News for Columbia: A New Pickleball Haven is Coming Soon!

Hey there, Columbia! Are you ready to pick up a paddle and join in on the pickleball craze that’s sweeping the nation? If you haven’t heard yet, the world of pickleball is getting even more thrilling here in our city. Just recently, it was announced that a brand-new, state-of-the-art pickleball facility is set to open its doors, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Welcome to The Picklr!

Introducing The Picklr, which just so happens to be the world’s largest indoor pickleball franchise. That’s right, folks! Columbia is getting its very first location as part of the Picklr family, owned by WayMor Sports. While an exact grand opening date hasn’t been revealed yet, the owners are aiming for a launch this coming January. So, mark your calendars and get ready to serve, volley, and smash!

A Growing Trend

Although pickleball has been played since the 1960s, its popularity has skyrocketed in recent years. It’s become a favorite pastime for people of all ages, and this new facility is sure to capture the hearts of both seasoned players and newcomers alike.

What Makes The Picklr Special?

So, what’s all the fuss about? The co-founder and chief branding officer, Jay Satori, shared that The Picklr is often compared to being the “Apple of pickleball.” Why? Because they’re all about offering a curated and elevated experience that’s truly unmatched. From the moment you walk onto the courts, you’ll notice the effort they’ve put into creating an ideal playing environment. The attention to detail is impressive—a big reason why they believe they’re a step ahead in the pickleball scene.

One unique feature of The Picklr locations is their signature black box interior. With black walls and ceilings, this design creates a high-contrast environment that helps players easily spot the bright-colored pickleballs. And it doesn’t stop there; they even have what they call a sound cloud! This innovative feature absorbs sound on the court, reducing noise by 35 to 40 percent, making your playing experience smoother and more enjoyable.

What to Expect in Columbia

The Columbia Picklr will boast 12 to 13 courts, a pro shop for all your pickleball gear needs, and will regularly host leagues and tournaments. If you’re someone who enjoys planning ahead, you’ll love that members can easily make virtual reservations using the Picklr app!
