Mountlake Terrace Triumphs Over Shorecrest in Overtime

Mountlake Terrace, WA – In a thrilling Wesco 3A South matchup on Sunday, September 29, 2024, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks edged out the Shorecrest Scots with a score of 19-16 in overtime. The dramatic contest saw both teams tied at 13-13 at the end of regulation, forcing the game into an extra period.

Shorecrest received the ball first in overtime and managed to kick a field goal, taking an early 16-13 lead. However, the Hawks responded quickly. Quarterback Mason Wilson led the team down the field, and they secured the winning touchdown soon after, improving their league performance to 2-0 and overall record to 3-1.

In terms of individual performances, Mason Wilson had a solid outing, completing 8 of 19 passes for 97 yards and rushing for 60 yards along with a touchdown. Running back Owen Boswell contributed significantly with 81 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. The Hawks also showcased strong defense, with Cody Ekanayake leading in tackles with 9 and Wilson making 1.5 sacks.

Next up for the Hawks is a game against Monroe on Friday, October 4, at 8 p.m. at Edmonds Woodway High School. Meanwhile, the Scots dropped to 1-1 in league play but maintained an overall record of 3-1.

Other Local High School Results

In other high school action, Meadowdale defeated Edmonds-Woodway with a close score of 34-27. Meadowdale sits at 1-2 in league play and 1-3 overall. They will next face Shorecrest on Friday, October 4, at 5 p.m..

In another game, Shorewood dominated Lynnwood with a score of 49-7. Shorewood now stands at 3-1, while Lynnwood drops to 0-4.

On the tennis courts, Edmonds-Woodway defeated Mountlake Terrace 7-0. Edmonds-Woodway improved to 8-1, while Mountlake Terrace fell to 2-6 and will face Marysville Getchell on Monday, September 30.

In cross country, multiple schools including Edmonds-Woodway and Lynnwood competed at the Bellevue Cross Country Invitational at Lake Sammamish State Park. Results can be found online.
