In Monroe on Wednesday, December 11, the Monroe High School basketball team triumphed over Meadowdale with a final score of 58-48. The game demonstrated Monroe’s strong performance throughout the match, setting the pace early with a decisive first quarter where they scored 21 points compared to Meadowdale’s mere 6.

The game unfolded with Monroe maintaining a solid lead through the first half. By the end of the second quarter, the score stood at 36-17. Despite a strong showing from Meadowdale in the final quarter, where they scored 20 points, they were unable to catch up to Monroe. The final score reflects the competitive spirit of both teams but highlights Monroe’s effective teamwork and strategy.

Leading the Monroe team was Chayce Waite-Kella, contributing significantly with 18 points. Other notable scorers included Wyatt Prohn with 12 points and Kieran Greear who added 8 points. Meadowdale’s Khalil Botley matched Waite-Kella’s intensity with his own 18 points as well.

With this win, Monroe improves its record to 4-0, while Meadowdale now stands at 1-2. Meadowdale’s next game will be against Kamiak on Thursday, December 12, starting at 7:15 p.m. at Meadowdale High School.

In other basketball action, Mountlake Terrace edged out Arlington with a close score of 47-46. This victory keeps Mountlake Terrace undefeated at 3-0. They will face Shorecrest on Friday, December 13, at 8 p.m..

Meanwhile, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors dominated the Kamiak Knights with a score of 66-44. Senior Cameron Hiatt led all scorers with an impressive 27 points. Edmonds-Woodway remains unbeaten at 3-0 and will play Lynnwood on Friday as well.

In swimming news, Snohomish took the lead at the Lynnwood Pool by defeating Lynnwood 57-30. Top performers included Bryson Wheat with 20 points and his brother Deyton with 11 points.
