Construction is expected to commence soon, providing fresh options for dining and accommodation in the vibrant downtown scene.

Lexington, S.C. Welcomes Exciting New Developments by Summer 2026

Lexington, South Carolina is buzzing with excitement as the town gears up for some fantastic new additions to its landscape! A brand-new hotel is set to make its home on Main Street, envisioned to open its doors as early as the summer of 2026. This hotel, which is to be four stories tall, promises to offer over 100 charming rooms, an inviting event venue, and a restaurant that could boast a delightful rooftop bar. How wonderful does that sound?

A Thriving Downtown Scene

Local business owners are throwing their weight behind this new venture. Take Anne Kershner from Nicky’s Pizzeria and Christie Connelly of Kindred Boutique, for example. They’ve seen how far downtown Lexington has come over the last couple of years and are thrilled about the prospect of more visitors flocking to the area. It’s a win-win as new developments often breathe fresh life into established businesses.

Clear Path for Development

In a recent series of meetings, town leaders gave the thumbs up to the hotel developers after reviewing their proposal during board of appearance meetings held in January and March. The final approval was granted two months ago, clearing the way for construction. The developers are looking to commence construction in about 60 to 90 days, provided they get the necessary land disturbance permits from Lexington County. One of the developers, Ajay Champaneri, has already invested a whopping $1.4 million into the project and comes with a wealth of knowledge from his experience in the Midlands hotel market.

The chosen site for the hotel has remained undeveloped for the last 15 to 16 years, so this project is definitely a long-awaited step forward for the town. Town officials have expressed a welcoming attitude toward new businesses and shown flexibility regarding impact fees, highlighting their commitment to fostering growth.

Dining Delights on the Way

As if a new hotel weren’t enough to get your taste buds tingling, there’s also a classy steakhouse scheduled to open its doors at 101 W. Main St. Suite 200 in January 2025. This upscale yet approachable restaurant is being launched by an experienced trio in the dining scene—Steve Cook, Joe Walker, and Ryan Jones. Patrons can expect a mouth-watering selection featuring hand-cut steaks, homemade pasta, fresh seafood, and seasonal delights, all served within a thoughtfully designed interior.

The renovations on the historic building where the steakhouse will reside are joyfully underway, managed by Boyer Construction. The excitement for this new dining option is already palpable as residents look forward to enjoying an elevated dining experience right in their own backyard.

A Fusion Feast: TakoSushi Joins the Party

But wait, there’s more! A trendy new dining spot called TakoSushi is set to debut in downtown Lexington at 102 C W. Main Street on September 5. This regional fusion restaurant combines Latin and Asian cuisines, and to celebrate its opening, TakoSushi will give the first 25 guests a year’s supply of free queso during the opening week! Their spacious new location will offer guests 2,100 square feet to enjoy, including 68 indoor seats and 48 outdoor seats, perfect for enjoying those warm Carolina evenings.

Operating hours for TakoSushi will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. This will mark TakoSushi’s eighth location, showcasing their diverse menu and adding a flavorful twist to Lexington’s culinary scene.

Community Growth Ahead

Overall, Lexington is gearing up for an exciting few years! With the new hotel, a high-end steakhouse, and the fun fusion restaurant, the local economy is moving forward, and residents are sure to enjoy the fresh experiences coming their way. Here’s to new beginnings in downtown Lexington!
