The Lexington-Richland School District Five recently celebrated its talented young scientists during the 2025 Science Fairs. From elementary to high school, students showcased impressive projects in various categories, including math, engineering, and life sciences. Noteworthy achievements were acknowledged, demonstrating the district’s commitment to fostering innovation and critical thinking. In addition to the science fairs, students excelled in other competitions, including film and culinary arts, highlighting the well-rounded excellence of the district’s students.
Lexington, SC – The science community in Lexington-Richland School District Five is buzzing with excitement as the winners of the 2025 Science Fairs have been announced! Young scientists from the district pulled out all the stops to showcase their awe-inspiring projects across various categories, from the nifty world of engineering to the fascinating realms of earth and life sciences.
Our youngest science aficionados kicked things off with the Elementary (5th Grade) Science Fair. The competition was fierce, but a few standout projects took home some shiny awards!
In a show of serious talent, honorable mentions were given out, celebrating many amazing participants! The future looks bright for these budding scientists!
Next up, the Intermediate/Middle School Science Fair continued the trend of excellence with impressive entries showcasing creative ideas and scientific inquiry.
These students have proven that they can think critically and innovate effectively. A big round of applause for our middle school scientists!
Finally, the spotlight turned to the final level of the competitions at the High School Science and Engineering Fair. Students from various schools exhibited their research and engineering prowess.
The competition was not only fierce, but it also celebrated the hard work and dedication of all participants. Many students received honorable mentions, showcasing just how broad and deep the talent pool is in Lexington-Richland District Five.
The success didn’t stop at the science fairs! Richland Northeast High School’s Lillian Mirosavich earned second place in CSPAN’s StudentCam competition with her fantastic video project “Carolina Connections: Understanding Others,” bringing home a $1,500 prize!
On another sweet note, Dezyah Dewitt, a third-grade star from Cayce Elementary, took the crown for the 13th Annual Future Chefs Challenge in the Lexington Two district.
And let’s not forget about the arts! The talented Irmo High School Concert Choir serenaded the Big Apple with a performance at Carnegie Hall on March 16, 2025, showcasing the diverse talents residing in our schools!
With such remarkable achievements across the board, it’s clear that the students of Lexington-Richland School District Five are on the fast track to success!
