LEXINGTON, S.C. – announced an initiative to host the STOP THE BLEED and C.R.A.S.E. (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) training sessions until September. Implementing such programs for the third consecutive year, the department aims to educate the community about effective emergency responses.
The STOP THE BLEED course allocates two hours to equip participants with crucial knowledge on three expedient actions designed to potentially save lives. The training provides guidance on using tourniquets and practicing wound packing. Conversely, the C.R.A.S.E. course, also spanning two hours, is designed around the “Avoid, Deny, Defend” strategy formulated by ALERRT. It offers participants a structured plan and strategic insight on surviving an active shooter event.
Both courses will be conducted at the Lexington Police Department, located at 111 Maiden Lane in their training room. Commencing at 6 p.m., each training session lasts for about two hours.
Available for free attendance, the classes have limited seats, with those aged 16 years or older eligible to participate. To register or elicit additional information, interested attendees may contact Officer Todd Zeigler at 803-359-6260 or via email at tzeigler@lexsc.gov.
With such safety training programs, the Lexington Police Department continues to fortify its commitment to serving the community. By learning critical emergency response skills, residents can play a pivotal role in emergency situations before first responders arrive at the sight. The initiative not only empowers individuals but also strengthens the entire community’s resilience in facing potential hazards.
Regularly introducing programs like STOP THE BLEED and C.R.A.S.E., Lexington Police Department underscores the importance of proactive community building. It emphasizes the significant role citizens can play when equipped with the right knowledge and skills.
This initiative is part of the broader effort by law enforcement agencies nationwide to ensure public safety through community-wide education. Through these programs, authorities aim to foster a more prepared and Oresilient society capable of responding effectively to emergencies.
