Born on *January 6, 1950*, in *Conway, South Carolina*, Rudy was the son of the late *Samuel Lamar Booth* and *Mary Elizabeth Booth Vansant*. He graduated from *Irmo High School* in *1968* and continued his education at the *University of South Carolina*, paving the way for a diverse career path that many in the area would come to admire.
Rudy’s professional journey began in an unexpected place when he opened *Tropical Fish World and Pet Supplies*, a beloved local business he operated for five years. However, his career took a turn as he transitioned into banking. Over an impressive 35 years, he climbed the ranks to become the *regional vice president* at *South Carolina Federal Credit Union*, leaving a legacy of dedication and excellence in the financial industry.
Those who knew Rudy best understood that he was a devoted family man. His role as a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather defined much of who he was. He and his wife, *Anita Vaughn Booth*, shared a beautiful marriage that lasted an incredible *54 years*. Together, they nurtured their three children: *Jason Booth (Kellye)*, *Mandy Booth Downing (Matt)*, and *Bonnie Booth Lillard (Jeff)*. The couple also created countless joyful memories with their six grandchildren, who adored their *PaRudy*.
Rudy was a man of many passions. A dedicated golf enthusiast, he could often be found on the course enjoying a game with friends. His love for the *University of South Carolina Gamecocks* sports was unmatched; he cheered fervently for the team, showcasing his unwavering support at every game he could attend. Furthermore, both camping trips with family and gatherings with friends were a staple in his life, bringing joy and laughter to everyone around him.
Rudy’s faith played a significant role in his life. As a faithful member of *Calvary Springs Community Church*, he served as an elder for many years and contributed musically as a bass guitarist in the church band. His self-taught guitar skills demonstrated his love for music, and he readily shared his faith, often telling others about the joy it brought him. Rudy was known for his friendly, welcoming nature; he truly never met a stranger.
The community is invited to pay tribute to Rudy’s life at a *memorial service* scheduled for *Saturday, September 21, 2024*, at *12:00 p.m.,* at *Calvary Springs Community Church*.
