Iowa High School Football Playoffs Kick Off in Action-Packed Round

Tonight in Ankeny, excitement filled the air as the Round of 16 officially kicked off for the Iowa high school football playoffs. Several teams faced off across all seven classes, setting the stage for thrilling games as we inch closer to the much-anticipated state semifinals at the UNI-Dome.

One of the standout performances came from the Hawks as they cruised to a dominant win, finishing with a score of 47-21. With over two minutes remaining, it looks like they’ll be moving on to compete against Iowa City Liberty next week. The Hawks’ Daniel Larmie shone brightly, scoring his fourth touchdown late in the third quarter to solidify their lead.

As the night progressed, Conley Harne stepped up for the Tigers, hitting a crucial 20-yard field goal that propelled his team to a 31-28 victory. In another nail-biter, the Vikings secured a 15-14 win with a last-minute touchdown and a successful two-point conversion.

Other notable scores included the Maroons defeating Cedar Falls 41-21 and the Dragons maintaining a solid lead of 35-0 over Waterloo West at halftime. Meanwhile, the Jags kept their momentum going with a sizeable 28-14 lead against Iowa City High thanks to an impressive four touchdowns from senior Braeden Jackson.

At the end of the night, all but one of the games were underway, adding to the anticipation as fans eagerly followed their favorite teams. With only a few games still ongoing, it was clear that high school football fans in Iowa were treated to a fantastic evening filled with thrilling moments and unexpected outcomes.
