The Fourth of July holiday, a time for grand celebrations and high spirits, is just around the corner. While the holiday falls on Thursday of this year, several popular spots around Lexington County have chosen to start their Independence Day celebrations early, with fun-filled events kicking off for the townsfolk this weekend.
Most events planned for the occasion are designed to make the most of the warm summer outdoors, perfect for social gatherings. Attendees are recommended to gear up for the hot weather and encouraged to bring lawn chairs for convenience at certain venues.
Lexington Town gets the festivities underway at the Icehouse Amphitheater on Main Street this Friday night. The spectacular event, presented by Denise Thomas State Farm, will start at 7 p.m. with a concert featuring the 246th Army Band. The grand evening concludes with a breathtaking fireworks show around 9:20 p.m. Accompanying the fireworks, The Lake at 93.1FM will broadcast patriotic tunes befitting the occasion. Multiple viewing areas are available for the public, including at Main Street restaurants, Lexington Square Park, the Lexington Veterans Monument, and multiple public parking lots in the downtown area.
Big Oak Farms Boutique on Augusta Highway invites residents to attend its exceptional celebration this Friday. The event spans from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering a unique blend of modern and old-school activities, featuring a trucker hat bar and a pop-up jewelry shop among other attractions. Although the event does not include a fireworks display, it promises to be a unique and entertaining affair.
Lake Murray commences its Independence Day celebrations on Saturday with the 36th Annual Fourth of July Celebration, presented by Lexington Medical Center. The celebration will feature one of South Carolina’s biggest fireworks shows, debuting around 9:30 p.m. Two display locations, Spence Island and Dreher Island, provide an awe-inspiring visual spectacle synchronized with patriotic music from 93.1 The Lake. Public viewing is available at Lake Murray Public Park sites at the Dam and Dreher Island State Park.
The iconic Ft. Jackson Independence Day event will be held on July 4, allowing citizens to celebrate their freedom with the people who defend it. The free, family-friendly event will provide various entertainment options, including a mesmerizing fireworks display, carnival rides, food trucks, misting stations, and live music headlined by The Reggie Sullivan Band.
The Lexington Peach Festival at Gilbert Community Park offers a distinctive celebration on the actual holiday. The event combines a tribute to community and Independence Day with an homage to the much-loved fruit, the peach. The day-long affair will feature live entertainment by rising country star Carter Lybrand, fresh peach treats, arts and crafts, the peach parade, fireworks, beauty pageants, and much more.
All these events are free to attend and promise a weekend of merriments, coming together, and patriotic joy as Lexington County rings in the significance of Independence Day a little early this year.
