Columbia Communities Unite to Spread Holiday Cheer with Food Giveaways

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Holiday Spirit Is in the Air!

It’s that wonderful time of the year again—holidays are just around the corner! With family gatherings and celebrations in the works, many folks are starting to think about their holiday feasts. However, as much as we love the festive vibes, there are families in our very own Columbia area who are struggling to keep food on the table this season. But fear not! There’s a fantastic array of local organizations stepping up to lend a hand. If you or someone you know could use some extra help this holiday season, check out these upcoming food giveaways happening in the Midlands area!

Mark Your Calendars for These Food Giveaways!

Here’s a quick rundown of when and where you can grab some essential goodies if you’re in need:

  • November 19: The Richland County Recreation Commission (RCRC) is hosting its Give Thanks Giveaway! Head on over at 2 p.m. to the Garners Ferry Sports Complex, located at 8620 Garners Ferry Rd., Hopkins.
  • November 20: It’s going to be a day of generosity at the Bountiful Harvest event, in partnership with Serve & Connect! They will be giving away boxes of holiday groceries and frozen chicken along with a delicious catered meal by Hudson’s Smokehouse. Swing by between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Icehouse Pavilion, downtown Lexington.
  • November 21: The RCRC will have another Give Thanks Giveaway set for 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Park, located at 920 Beatty Rd..
  • November 23: Don’t miss another chance to grab some goodies! The next RCRC Give Thanks Giveaway will kick off at 10 a.m. at the Crane Creek Gymnasium, 7405-B Fairfield Rd., Columbia.
  • November 24: Join Molina Healthcare of South Carolina and Serve & Connect for a giveaway of nonperishable holiday food boxes and turkeys while supplies last! They’ll be handing these out from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at their headquarters located at 8131 Brookfield Rd..
  • November 25: It’s all about the turkey! Make sure to catch the Feed the Families Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway hosted by Victory Promotions and Palmetto Talent Agency from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at SPACE 803, 2732 Decker Blvd..
  • November 26: The Stanley Law Group and Toliver’s Mane Event are looking to spread some joy with a Turkey Giveaway starting at 10 a.m. at Toliver’s Mane Event, 6102 North Main St.. One turkey per vehicle—so get there early before they run out!
  • Thanksgiving Day, November 28: To wrap up this fantastic week of giving, the Chappelle Memorial AME Church will host a Community Outreach Dinner in honor of the late Edith General. It’s a walk-in or drive-through event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1101 Pine St..
