This week in local high school sports, field hockey took center stage along with various other competitions across the board.
In a much-anticipated rematch, the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins faced off against the Monomoy Sharks on Wednesday. After a surprising 1-1 tie three weeks ago, Monomoy improved upon their previous performance with a solid 3-0 victory. Goals were netted by Mia Zimmerman, Samantha Clark, and Sophie Larivee. Emily Layton and Sam Clarke also contributed with assists. Monomoy’s goalkeeper, Maddy Swett, recorded a shutout, showcasing her skills as the Sharks held D-Y to just three shots throughout the match.

In cross country, Falmouth’s Silas Gartner finished first in an impressive time of 18:11, while Dennis-Yarmouth’s Jacob Viera came in second with a personal record of 18:55. Additionally, the Dolphins’ Olivia Pendelton and Siena Lauze tied for first place in the girls’ division with a time of 21:52.
