High School Sports Roundup: North Platte Celebrates Thrilling Volleyball and Softball Matches

North Platte High School Sports Recap

North Platte, Neb. – In recent high school sports action, local teams took to the fields and courts with some exciting results. In softball, McCook dominated North Platte, winning with a score of 8-0. Meanwhile, Cozad had a standout performance against Chase County, finishing the game at a remarkable 24-7. Hershey secured a win over Bayard in their first match, winning 4-0, while the second game between the two teams was thrilling, with Bayard narrowly escaping defeat, winning by a single run, 6-5.

On the volleyball front, Overton showcased their skills by defeating Brady with comfortable sets of 26-24, 25-13, and 25-16. Chase County also recorded a solid victory over Sidney, winning 3-0 with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 26-24. Hershey had an impressive match against Kimball, finishing the game 3-0 with set scores of 25-8, 25-13, and 25-20.

In other matches, Ogallala took down Cozad, and Anselmo-Merna defeated South Loup in a tight contest, winning 2-0 with set scores of 27-25 and 25-21. At the South Loup Triangular, Elm Creek triumphed over Anselmo-Merna and South Loup, defeating them with scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-10, 25-15 respectively.

In the Paxton Tournament, Paxton defeated Wallace with scores of 25-16 and 25-11. Wauneta-Palisade also had a strong showing against Potter Dix, winning 2-0 with scores of 25-6 and 25-21. In a thrilling matchup, Potter Dix prevailed against Wallace with a comeback victory of 2-1, after dropping the first set 18-25, and winning the next two sets 25-21 and 25-20. Wauneta-Palisade later clinched the tournament by defeating Paxton with a score of 25-14 and 25-17.

In college volleyball, McCook Community College also saw success, defeating North Platte Community College 3-0, with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 26-24.

Overall, it was an eventful week for local high school sports, with plenty of exciting matches to follow. Fans look forward to seeing how these teams continue to grow and compete in the coming weeks.
