Exciting Times in Cayce: Hattie’s Crossing Officially Opens!

Good news, Cayce! Today marks a wonderful milestone in our charming city as Hattie’s Crossing was officially dedicated at a ceremony held at 4:00 p.m. Located at 800 Lexington Avenue, this event highlights the strong partnerships within our community, involving local entities like Lexington School District Two, the Greater CWC Chamber & Visitor’s Center, and Cypress Real Estate Partners.

Celebrating Our Roots

Tim James, the Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Cayce and also the President of the Chamber of Commerce, expressed his excitement. “As a prior student of Cayce Grammar, I am thrilled to see the history of our beloved school memorialized,” he said. With a big smile, he also shared his views on the community’s growth, saying, “We are welcoming new families to our community while celebrating our roots!”

It’s heartwarming to see such enthusiasm for honoring the past while also looking forward to a bright future. The dedication honors Hattie Derrenbacher, a dedicated educator who left a lasting impact on the students of Lexington School District Two. Dr. Brenda Hafner, the district’s Superintendent, remarked, “It’s a fitting tribute to the woman who committed her life to educating our children.”

What’s Coming to Hattie’s Crossing?

So, what can we expect from this new neighborhood? Mark James from Cypress Real Estate Partners shared a glimpse of the exciting plans. “We’re thrilled about the redevelopment of the historic Cayce Grammar School property into a vibrant new residential neighborhood. These homes will combine attractive traditional architecture with the benefits of new construction,” he explained. It sounds like a fantastic addition to our community!

Infill development is part of Cayce’s comprehensive plan, and this project is seen as a remarkable opportunity to transform a previously blighted property into something positive. Jim Crosland, Cayce’s Interim City Manager, couldn’t contain his enthusiasm, saying, “This is a perfect opportunity for partnerships that transform a blighted property into a vibrant housing opportunity!”

Building Community Bonds

As construction is set to begin soon, there’s a sense of eagerness amongst the residents of Cayce and its neighboring towns like West Columbia, Swansea, Pine Ridge, and Chapin. The excitement buzzes across the whole area, as people see Hattie’s Crossing not just as new homes, but as a space to form connections and build a strong community. It’s not just about bricks and mortar, but about creating a place where families can gather, laugh, and thrive together!

Whether you’re from nearby Gaston’s cozy streets or the beautiful shores of Lake Murray, the spirit of collaboration and anticipation is palpable. The news of this redevelopment echoes through the hearts of residents from Batesburg-Leesville to Irmo, uniting us all in the goal of community progress.

The Road Ahead

As we look to the future, let’s celebrate this wonderful moment in Cayce together. Hattie’s Crossing promises to be more than just a new development; it signifies passion, pride, and the unyielding spirit of our community. With a history celebrated and a future bright ahead, Cayce is truly ready to welcome both old and new residents alike!

So, mark your calendars, Cayce! Hattie’s Crossing has officially opened, and there’s much to look forward to right in our own backyard.
