Coffee shop duo Roger Caughman and Kailey Cunningham have unveiled their latest venture, a specialty coffee pop-up named Godspeed. Launched recently on 727 Saluda St. in Columbia’s Five Points district, Godspeed is situated in a former Starbucks location and operates in close collaboration with the iconic Papa Jazz Record Shoppe.
The innovative pop-up shop presents patrons with an interesting fusion of freshly brewed coffee and vinyl album browsing experiences. Godspeed and Papa Jazz Record Shoppe plan to engage coffee lovers and music enthusiasts from the locality at their shared space for approximately three weeks from the opening.
Godspeed’s founders, Roger Caughman and Kailey Cunningham, are not new to Columbia’s coffee industry. The two started their journey as baristas at Drip Coffee, developed an affection for coffee and each other, and gradually evolved their unique coffee-focused community-building idea.
Launching Godspeed as a pop-up allows Caughman and Cunningham to kick-start their venture in a cost-effective manner. With their emphasis on strengthening community ties, the founders are keen on creating a warm and inviting space where coffee enthusiasts can meet, connect, and savor some excellent caffeinated beverages.
As Godspeed operates on a ‘for hire’ basis, it will be popping up at different local retail venues in the future – a strategic step designed to actively promote vibrant community connections. As for the specifics of where and when it will appear next, Columbia’s coffee aficionados will just have to stay tuned!
