South Carolina Gamecocks Conclude Season at NCAA Championship
Carlsbad, Calif. – No.3 South Carolina’s season came to a close at the NCAA Championship on Sunday. The Gamecocks finished 23rd at 40-over for the tournament, missing the cut for the top-15. Carolina teed off in the afternoon wave today and was just outside the top-15 at 17-over needing a solid round to advance. The Gamecocks shot 311 (+23) and slipped three spots down the leaderboard.
Freshman Vairana Heck Shines in Final Round
Freshman Vairana Heck shot 76 (+4) to lead Carolina in the final round. She made four birdies and closed strong with three circles on her scorecard over the final five holes. Freshman Maylis Lamoure and senior Sophia Burnett also shot 76 (+6) while Junior All-American Louise Rydqvist shot 79 (+7) to round out the final scores. Rydqvist, a First Team All-SEC selection and likely All-American again, led the team with a T-41st finish at 5-over. Lamoure had a solid debut at her first NCAA Championship with a T-57th finish at 7-over.
