The culinary world is abuzz as Capital City/Lake Murray Country (CCLMC) recently announced the second judge joining the esteemed panel for the upcoming Southeastern BBQ Showdown (SEBBQSD). In a much-anticipated revelation, Chef Brian Duffy, best-known for a slew of appearances on Spike TV’s Bar Rescue, the Food Network, and numerous national BBQ events, has been invited to join the panel.
A Philadelphia native, Chef Brian Duffy gained his first culinary experiences within his large Irish-Italian family. Following his passion, he studied at Philadelphia’s The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. After graduating, he honed his culinary skills under the mentorship of James Beard Award-winning Chef Jean Marie LaCroix at The Four Seasons in Philadelphia. Duffy has partaken in over 100 restaurant and venue openings and has become a fixture on national television for over 17 years.
In addition to his extensive culinary endeavors, Chef Duffy is currently working on his first book and maintaining his love of BBQ. His passion for BBQ took center stage after winning the Food Network’s coveted “Barn Smoker” event in Dallas in the summer of 2023.
The sizzling event is slated for June 14-15, 2024, from 4 to 10 p.m. The venue for this delicious showdown is Segra Park, located at 1640 Freed Street, Columbia, S.C.
Adding to the excitement, the multi-Grammy® Award-Winning band Alabama and the Band of Oz are scheduled to perform. Tickets can be purchased online at Southeasternbbqshowdown.com or in-person at Segra Park.
Capital City/Lake Murray Country is set to host the ultimate BBQ competition, the Southeastern BBQ Showdown, in June 2024. This two-day event is a mouth-watering celebration of all things BBQ. Chefs from all over the Southeast will gather to compete for the “Homeplate” grand prize, offering attendees a vendor expo, BBQ samples, music concerts, a fireworks finale, and more.
