Exciting Happenings in Columbia This November

Hello, Columbia! With the fall season in full swing, there’s a whole lot happening around town that you won’t want to miss out on. From art fairs to community health events, and everything in between, we’ve rounded up a list of upcoming activities and events for you and your loved ones to enjoy. So grab your calendar, and let’s dive in!

Art and Craft Events

For all the art enthusiasts out there, Alexandra’s Art Studio on Sparkleberry Crossing Road is your go-to spot! They offer a range of adult and kids’ classes, as well as organized art class groups to get those creative juices flowing. If you’re looking for some weekend fun, don’t forget to check out the Midlands Crafter’s Association’s 2024 Christmas Arts & Crafts Market, scheduled for Saturday, November 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 3, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the South Carolina State Farmers Market. It’s the perfect opportunity to find unique handmade gifts!

Don’t miss the Historic Melrose Art in the Yard on Sunday, December 8, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This outdoor event will feature local artists showcasing their work across multiple city blocks. Stay tuned on social media for maps and more information!

Community and Charity Events

This month, Rehoboth Church will be holding an indoor yard sale on November 1 and 2, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a fantastic way to snag some unique finds while supporting the community. And as Election Day approaches, St. David’s Episcopal Church will host a non-partisan prayer service for peace and unity on November 4 at 6:30 p.m. It’s a time to come together and reflect as a community.

Health and Wellness

Prioritizing your health? Mark your calendars for the free “Healthy Me-Healthy SC” community health fair, taking place on Saturday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Park. This event will offer invaluable resources and services to help you stay fit and informed.

Festivals and Fun!

Looking for some fun, family-friendly outings? The South Carolina Gingerbread House Competition is back on December 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at AIA Columbia. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Columbia Christmas Pageant at First Baptist Church on December 14 and 15 for a festive celebration that has become a beloved community tradition.

Live Performances and Dance

If you’re a fan of dance, you won’t want to miss the Betsy Blackmon Dance Company’s Fall Concert on November 7 and 8, at 7:30 p.m., hosted at the Koger Center for the Arts. Plus, a wide range of dance classes are available in our community, including Adult Ballet Classes every Thursday at 7 p.m. Check it out and maybe even join in on the fun!

Fundraisers and Community Support

Join the evening festivities at Wine on the River, hosted by the Lexington Medical Center Foundation, on November 8, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the West Columbia Riverwalk. Enjoy some great wines while supporting a good cause! And for those who love oysters, the Rotary Club of Blythewood is hosting their Oyster Roast and BBQ on November 15 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Support Groups and Meetings

Don’t forget there are numerous support groups and community meetings for various interests and needs, including Promise of Serenity NAR-ANON meeting on Mondays and the ADD/ADHD Support Group of the Midlands, where you can connect with others facing similar challenges.
