High School Football Playoff Highlights from Pittsburgh

This past weekend in Pittsburgh, high school football fans were treated to an exciting day of playoff action. The WPIAL championships took place at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday, November 23, and filled the stands with enthusiastic supporters.

In the Class 5A championship, Pine-Richland secured a solid win against Peters Township with a final score of 20-9. Pine-Richland’s strong performance propelled them into the next round, showcasing their determination.

Meanwhile, in the Class 3A game, Avonworth shut out Central Valley with an impressive score of 17-0. This win marks a significant achievement for Avonworth as they look ahead to the semifinals.

In Class 2A, South Park faced off against Seton LaSalle in a close match that ended with a score of 21-14. South Park’s victory keeps their championship hopes alive.

The Class A championship was a nail-biter as Fort Cherry narrowly defeated Clairton, ending the game at 21-20. This thrilling finish kept fans on the edge of their seats.

In the PIAA playoffs, Class 6A results saw Harrisburg overpower West Lawn Wilson with a decisive victory of 42-14. Looking ahead, the semifinals will be taking place on November 29-30, with matchups including Downingtown West against St. Joseph’s Prep, and Central Catholic facing off against Harrisburg.

As we move into the next round of playoffs, teams in different classes, including Class 4A, Class 3A, Class 2A, and Class A, will also be gearing up for upcoming semifinals, promising even more thrilling matchups ahead.
