In Columbia, South Carolina, a disturbing incident has come to light involving the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (SCDJJ). A department employee, age 28, identified as Tyquine Leonard, was reportedly arrested for assaulting a juvenile.
The arrest warrant served on Leonard claims that he deliberately and knowingly choked and pushed a minor in the chest and upper areas of the body. This unfortunate incident reportedly occurred in November 2023, according to the same warrant. At the time of the incident, Leonard was carrying out his duties as a juvenile correctional officer at the Midlands Evaluation Center on Shivers Road.
Adding weight to the charges against Leonard, the warrant also noted the presence of video evidence and other forms of proof supporting the allegations.
Leonard, according to HERE News Network, turned himself in to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on the March 5. Charges brought against him include misconduct in office and assault and battery in the third degree.
