The city of Detroit is buzzing with excitement as University of North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye was selected third overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
Maye, who becomes Carolina’s 25th first-round draft pick, expressed his gratitude and excitement, stating, “This is a dream come true and something I’ve been working towards for a long time.”
With this selection, Maye becomes the 10th North Carolina quarterback to be drafted into the NFL and the 252nd Tar Heel chosen overall.

His consistent performance on the field earned him recognition as a Manning Award finalist and a second-team All-ACC selection.
