High School Sports Roundup: De Pere and West De Pere Basketball Highlights

DE PERE – The Kimberly Papermakers showed their strength in a decisive win against the De Pere Redbirds, clinching the game with a final score of 62 to 49. Four players from Kimberly managed to score in double figures, with Raegan Krueger leading the charge with an impressive 18 points. Emily Urban contributed 14 points, while Haylie Dulas and Ava Van Vonderen both added 11 points. For De Pere, Egan Bierowski and Aubree Fischer each scored 11 points, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.

The game started off closely, with Kimberly leading 30-23 at halftime and extending their lead in the second half. The Papermakers shot 12 of 17 from the free throw line and managed to net three-pointers from Urban, Brochtrup, Dulas, and Van Vonderen. De Pere struggled, shooting 9 of 16 from the line, and were unable to match Kimberly’s offensive momentum.

Meanwhile, across town, the West De Pere Phantoms staged an incredible comeback against Appleton North. After trailing by one at halftime, the Phantoms dominated the second half, outscoring Appleton North 37-19. Madisyn Berggren led the team with 17 points, showcasing strong performances from Avery Werfal, who led Appleton North with 20 points, and Tay Maass who added 14.

The final score for this matchup ended with West De Pere at 63 and Appleton North at 46. The Phantoms capitalized on their shooting and defensive adjustments, while Appleton struggled to find their rhythm in the final quarter.
