The University of South Carolina’s (USC) head baseball coach Mark Kingston will not be returning for the 2025 season, according to a press release by Gamecocks Athletics Director Ray Tanner. The university announced Kingston’s departure Monday morning, only a day after the Gamecocks lost 2-0 to James Madison University, ending their run in the NCAA Tournament Raleigh Regional. No further details were shared.
Kingston was the 30th head coach in program history and worked with South Carolina for seven years with a 217-155 overall record. Kingston led the Gamecocks to six winning seasons, including three in SEC play. Monte Lee, assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator for South Carolina, will serve as interim head coach.
