Hey there, Columbia residents! Are you ready for a weekend filled with fun, food, and fantastic events? Whether you’re looking to chow down on some delicious German grub at Oktoberfest or explore local history and culture at the Jubilee Festival, there’s something for everyone here in town.
This weekend marks the return of the beloved Oktoberfest, hosted by Bierkeller Columbia! Starting at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 20, and running through Sunday, the celebration will take place on Canalside Street. You and your family can dive into an array of traditional German foods, including pretzels, bratwursts, and of course, a selection of cold, refreshing beers.
The best part? Admission is absolutely free! Grab your friends and family and enjoy some live music while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. If you can’t make it this weekend, don’t fret! The festivities will continue for the next two weekends, giving everyone plenty of time to join in on the fun.
While you’re out and about, why not swing by the Jubilee Festival of Black History and Culture, happening this Saturday? From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., you’ll find yourself immersed in rich history at the Mann-Simons site on Richland Street. This event promises lots of excitement with live music, amazing art displays, and mouth-watering food options.
Don’t forget to bring the kids along! There’s a kids zone that includes fun activities like free face painting, robotic demonstrations, and so much more to keep your little ones entertained. Best of all, just like the Oktoberfest, this event is completely free to attend.
This event will take place at Granby Gardens Park, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to foster community ties while having a blast with friends and family.
Looking ahead, don’t miss out on the upcoming Foodees Food and Culture Festival taking place next month in Sumter! Scheduled for October 4 through 6 at the American Legion Fairgrounds, this festival is set to feature tantalizing culinary delights, unique crafts, and family-friendly entertainment.
Just a heads up, while entry is free, you will need to register in advance to secure your spot. So don’t wait too long to sign up!
This weekend in Columbia is shaping up to be one filled with culture, community, and of course, lots of fun. So grab your calendars and plan to soak up all the excitement happening in our lovely city! Happy weekend, everyone!
