Exciting High School Sports Action in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is buzzing with anticipation as the Week 5 weekend of high school football kicks off. This Thursday, at Cupples Stadium, two top City League teams face off for the District 8 title. The reigning champions, Westinghouse, will meet their long-time rivals, Allderdice. Both teams come into this prime matchup with identical records of 2-0 in the City League and 4-1 overall.

What makes this game even more exciting is that neither team has allowed a single point in their two district victories. Westinghouse dominated their opponents, Brashear and Perry, with an impressive combined score of 132-0. Not to be outdone, Allderdice also shined with a combined score of 74-0 against those same teams. The Bulldogs will try to extend their four-game winning streak, while Allderdice aims to keep their three-game winning streak alive.

In the past seven seasons, Westinghouse and Allderdice have clashed 14 times, including matches in the City League playoffs. They’ve met in the District 8 championship games four times, with Westinghouse taking four victories and Allderdice three. However, when it comes to the regular season, Westinghouse has been dominant, winning eight straight since Allderdice’s last win in 2015.
