Take note, drivers! There’s a bit of a travel hiccup coming your way. Starting from Monday, August 26, Childs Street in Lexington County is going to be temporarily off limits. Yup, you’ve heard it right! Our local South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) folks have marked it for some much-needed repairs.
A matter of a week, that’s what they estimate for the job to be finished. But we recommend you get your alternative routes sorted out pronto. You know how these things go, right? Better to be prepared than cursing Monday morning traffic!
The good news is, the SCDOT has got your back. They’ll be setting up a signed detour route to guide us all avoid getting stuck in a jam. You can also plan ahead of time by using the handy 511 SC app that the SCDOT provides, or by browsing on over to 511sc.org.
Now, if you’re one of the brave ones deciding to venture near the repair area, remember to use caution and slow down your speed. We’ve got real people working out there, and they surely don’t want to end up as ‘roadkill’.
While we’re on the topic of road manners, let’s not forget our online etiquette too. We invite you to share your thoughts and experiences, but also remember the guidelines: no coarse language, no threat or harm to others, always be honest, be nice, and be proactive in reporting any abusive remarks.
Oh, and one more thing. Remember to TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK when commenting. It’s not music to anyone’s eyes for sure. We’d much rather hear your eyewitness accounts, the history behind a street or any piece of insightful information you’d like to share.
If this article isn’t displaying quite right, it might be time to check on your browser. Outdated versions can be vulnerable to security risks you know. Switching to a more secure browser could be a good idea. Stay safe virtually and on the roads!
So, there you have it, folks! Ready or not, changes are coming to Childs Street in Lexington County from Monday, August 26. Plan your routes, keep your speed slow, and keep our working crews safe. See you on the flip side of the repairs!
