Much-Needed Relief as Missing Chapin Teen Returns Safe

Our community in Chapin, South Carolina can breathe a sigh of relief today, following the safe return of a previously reported missing teen. The 14-year-old was reported missing this past Wednesday after leaving Chapin High School around 1:00 P.M.

Outpouring of Community Support

Moments after the Police department’s Facebook announcement that the teen had been found, messages of relief and gratitude from local residents began flooding in. “Thank you again for the outpouring of support from the community,” posted the department. It has been heartening to see such unity within our town. The anxious hours that passed after the teen’s disappearance saw intensive work by authorities to locate him, supported heavily by members of the public sharing information and extending their assistance however possible.

When last seen walking away from Chapin High School, the teen was clad in a black hoodie, a white t-shirt, and black and white jogger-style trousers, topped off with white shoes. The high school staff and his classmates were some of the last people who interacted with the young boy before his disappearance. It was suggested that he might have been trying to get to the Irmo area, where he has a group of friends.
