The Newberry County Young Professionals were announced as the 2023 Ambassador of the Year at the event. They’ve been applauded for their contributions to the community, including the organization of events for residents and professionals in Newberry, as well as their efforts in fostering relationships and community building.
“We firmly believe that part of being a good citizen of Newberry County is giving back to a community that has given us so much,” said Mary Kopp, President of the Newberry Young Professionals.
Among their key contributions to the community in 2023, the Newberry Young Professionals built two Little Free Pantries available to anyone in need. The group also hosted drives to ensure school children had necessary supplies and clothes for the fall term.
Looking ahead, the Young Professionals plan to continue their commitment by hosting a kickball tournament and a tailgate at Newberry College later this summer.
The event concluded with a tribute to past leadership. Andrew Wigger, previous chair of the Chamber, was awarded a gavel for his service. Fellow outgoing board members Melody Jepson and Carlton Kinard were gifted with photographs of Newberry taken by local photographer Oswaldo Tapia.
