Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Awards Grant to Cayce Fire Department

Cayce, SC

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, in collaboration with the local Firehouse Subs restaurant, has awarded the Cayce Fire Department a substantial $32,067 grant, according to department officials.

Funding for Vital Equipment

The grant will be put to use in purchasing 9 new sets of turnout gear, a crucial asset in firefighting operations. Turnout gear, which includes heat and flame-resistant clothing, helmets, boots, gloves, and other personal protective equipment, is the first line of defense for firefighters battling blazes. Regular use during emergencies and training exercises can cause this gear to wear out over time, reducing its protective qualities.

Over and above, departments aim to allocate 2 sets of gear per firefighter. This provision is crucial as materials encountered in burning structures often carry carcinogenic properties. Having 2 sets allows for one to be worn while the other is being cleaned, ensuring that firefighters are always adequately protected.

About Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation

Established in 2005, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was conceived in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Founders and former firefighters, Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen embarked on a mission to Mississippi, offering sustenance to first responders and survivors alike. On their return journey to Florida, having witnessed the devastation firsthand, they committed to doing more. Their resolve culminated in the birth of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, aimed at providing lifesaving support to responders across states.

Impact on the Cayce Fire Department

This generous grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation will undoubtedly significantly enhance the safety and effectiveness of the Cayce Fire Department. This gesture not only funds their immediate needs but also contributes to the well-being of the fearless firefighters dedicated to public safety.

Despite the challenges of their profession, our brave firefighters forge ahead, displaying unwavering commitment and resilience. Thanks to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, they can now do so with advanced protective gear; fostering greater assurance and safety as they put their lives on the line for the community they serve.

A Shared Vision for Community Safety

This partnership between these organizations reflects a shared vision to empower emergency services and first responders, enhancing the safety, effectiveness, and emergency response capabilities within our communities. The grand gesture made by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is a testimony to their commitment to equipping our first responders with the tools they need to save lives on the job.
