If you’re in the Columbia area or anywhere nearby, gear up for a delightful musical experience that is about to hit the stage! The Koger Center for the Arts is set to host an extraordinary concert that will be music to the ears of soul, blues, pop, and hip hop enthusiasts. Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 22, 2024, because national recording artist and Hopkins native Camm Wess will be headlining the Live Outside: Camm Wess concert from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and trust us, you won’t want to miss it!
For those who might not have heard of him yet, Camm Wess is making waves in the music scene with his incredible talent and unique sound. He first caught the attention of audiences during his memorable blind audition on Season 18 of The Voice with a stunning rendition of “Earned It”. His performance quickly propelled him into the spotlight, and he solidified his place as a finalist on the show. But the magic doesn’t stop there! Camm also showcased his remarkable songwriting skills with his original tune “Save it for Tomorrow”, co-produced with none other than Ryan Tedder and co-written with John Legend.
Camm’s voice has been fondly nicknamed “Honey Butter” by John Legend, given the rich, silky sound that’s become his signature. But it’s his versatility that truly stands out; blending elements of soul, blues, and hip hop, he brings a fresh take on pop music, all while showcasing an impressive vocal range and storytelling ability.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, the concert will feature a special opening act called Death Ray Robin. This Alt-R&B group, led by the dynamic Black-Korean vocalist Desirée Richardson, is known for their engaging performances and fusion of sounds. With a rotating cast of talented instrumentalists from Columbia, you can expect to be treated to a great start to the evening.
So, what can you expect from an evening with Camm Wess? According to Camm himself, this concert experience is going to be all about the music. He emphasizes his desire to connect with the audience, creating an atmosphere of shared joy and unforgettable memories. “I want everyone to feel the music deep in their souls!” he shared during a recent visit to the WACH Fox Studios. With his impressive discography, including his debut single “Temptation” released back in 2018, fans can look forward to a blend of both original tracks and possibly some covers that resonate with the soul of the audience.
