PROSPERITY, S.C. — In a small town that thrives on community spirit and shared celebrations, we have a reason to cheer! Callie Wilbanks, a senior at Mid-Carolina High School, has just been awarded the prestigious title of Player of the Year for region 3-AA in volleyball. What an achievement!
This season, the Mid-Carolina Rebels had an impressive record of 16 wins, 9 losses, and 2 ties in the regular season. They really battled it out, especially in the last week of play when they faced off against Clinton, the team that ultimately held them back from clinching the region title. Those matches were truly nail-biters, showcasing the dedication and perseverance of the Rebels.
Callie expressed just how much this recognition means to her. “It means so much. I worked so hard in the off-season in the past four years. If you would’ve told me as a freshman that I am region player of the year and I am playing in six rotations, I would have not believed you. I have changed so much throughout the years and it means so much. It means everything honestly,” she shared with glowing pride.
But wait, there’s more! Callie isn’t just a volleyball star. She also shines brightly on the basketball court, being a key member of the girls varsity basketball team. And if that wasn’t enough, she’s a standout athlete in track and field too! In 2024, she was the state runner-up and region champion in the girls discus throw. Talk about a powerhouse!
With such an impressive profile, it’s clear Callie is a remarkable talent who represents what hard work and determination can achieve. As the volleyball playoffs loom on the horizon, excitement fills the air at Mid-Carolina. Everyone can’t wait to see what Callie and her teammates will accomplish next. Grab your pom-poms and get ready to cheer — the playoffs are just around the corner!
In a world that often takes sports for granted, let’s remember to lift up our local athletes. It’s their hard work, resilience, and commitment to their sport that keeps communities like Prosperity vibrant and engaged.
