Bookstore Grand Opening Celebration

On October 9, 2024, a brand new Barnes & Noble store will open its doors in the Columbiana Centre mall, located in the popular Harbison shopping district northwest of downtown Columbia. The new Barnes & Noble will be located at storefront No. 1222, just south of the food court. If you’ve been to the mall before, you might remember that this space was previously a clothing store called Edge. According to Janine Flanigan, the senior director of store planning and design for Barnes & Noble, this new location will span approximately 5,800 square feet. And for those of you who love the look and feel of Barnes & Noble stores, you’ll be pleased to know that this one will feature the same modern look and aesthetic that fans have come to adore in recent years. It’s all about creating a cozy space where you can browse through your favorite titles, sip on a hot coffee, and just enjoy the joy of reading!
This isn’t just any store opening; it’s a special return to the Harbison area for Barnes & Noble! Once upon a time, the area hosted a location at 278-A Harbison Blvd., which closed back in 2013. Since then, eager readers in the community have been waiting for the beloved bookstore to return. Although the company faced a challenge when they had to close their store at Richland Mall due to its ongoing demolition for a major overhaul, they quickly opened a new location in the Shoppes at Woodhill on Garners Ferry Road in March 2024. That store has quickly become a favorite among the book-loving crowd!
