In Pittsburgh, high school basketball teams are gearing up for an exciting weekend as various tournaments kick off. Starting on Friday, schools from across the region will come together to compete in several tournaments, showcasing young talent and setting the stage for the upcoming season.

The one-day Armstrong Tournament will feature a match between Highlands and Armstrong at 7:30 p.m. In the Ellwood City Tournament, Blackhawk will face Rochester at 6 p.m., followed by Union taking on Ellwood City at 7:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Geneva College/Lincoln Park Tournament is set to feature several exciting games, including Beaver Falls versus Ambridge at 6 p.m. and a late-night matchup between East Liverpool and Lincoln Park at 9 p.m. The Latrobe Tournament will also host games with Richland playing against Windber at 6 p.m. and Mt. Pleasant facing Latrobe at 8 p.m.

Beyond the boys’ games, various girls’ tournaments are also on the schedule, including the Avella Tournament, where Burgettstown will go against McGuffey at 6 p.m., and the Leechburg Tournament featuring Apollo-Ridge versus Hampton at 3 p.m. These spirited competitions promise excellent opportunities for players to display their skills.

The excitement of the weekend doesn’t stop at basketball. Football enthusiasts are also on the edge of their seats with the PIAA playoffs rolling into the semifinals. Key matches include Central Catholic against Harrisburg, set for Saturday at 1 p.m.

As teams prepare to hit the courts, players and fans alike are hoping for thrilling performances and, possibly, upsets that could shape the remainder of the season. Stay tuned for updates as the action unfolds!
